Educating people on the need for decent housing

COVID-19

There are more than 457 million people infected with COVID-19 thus far, over 5% of the world population. This number is still growing. In fact, in the time it took you to read this paragraph, over 15 new people around the world have been infected.

As Omicron rages around the world, self-isolation of positive cases at home has become more important. This underscores the need for better housing solutions.

Decent housing

According to the government of United Kingdom, the requirements for decent homes are as follows:

1. Containing no serious hazard
2. No building components should be old and in need of immediate repair due to poor condition or old age.
3. Provides a reasonable degree of thermal comfort
4. Have at least four of the following:

a. a reasonably modern kitchen
b. a kitchen with adequate space and layout
c. a reasonably modern bathroom
d. an appropriately located bathroom
e. adequate insulation against external noise (where external noise is a problem)
f. adequate size and layout of common areas for blocks of flats.
